City Council Approves $10,000 Reward in Homicide Investigation

CITY COUNCIL APPROVES $10,000 REWARD IN HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION
Riverside, CA – On Friday, February 14, 2020, at approximately 10:53 p.m., the City of Riverside’s Public Safety Communications Center received multiple calls of a shooting that just occurred outside the Marriott Hotel, located in the 3400 block of Market Street in Riverside. Riverside Police Officers responded and located a male victim suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to a local hospital but succumbed to his injuries. The victim was identified as Grant Leggette Sr., 57-years-old of Rubidoux.
At this week’s City Council meeting, a reward of $10,000 was offered, for the duration of 60 days, for information that leads to the identification and apprehension of the person or persons responsible for the murder of Mr. Leggette Sr.
Mr. Leggette Sr. was an elder member of the Life Church of God in Christ. He was very family-oriented and known as the local handyman within his neighborhood and church community. “Grant was a wonderful husband, father, and a great son to his mother and family,” said Grant’s wife, Betty. “He would always go above and beyond for anyone, and we will miss him dearly. Our hope is that someone comes forward with information to help bring us closure.”
Preliminary investigation revealed that Mr. Leggette Sr. was walking to his parked car that night after an event when the unknown suspect fired gunshots, striking him several times. The suspect fled the scene prior to the officers’ arrival.
Detectives with the Robbery – Homicide Unit are asking for the public’s help in solving this case, and are hoping this reward will lead to someone coming forward with suspect information.
