RUMORS OF SCHOOL VIOLENCE THREATS AT MLK HIGH SCHOOL
Our School Resource Officer assigned to Martin Luther King High School has been investigating several rumors of school violence threats this week that stemmed from a fight involving students last week. Riverside County S.T.A.R. (School Threats Assessment & Response) protocols were conducted and these rumors have been deemed not credible. But out of an abundance of caution, there will be an increased police presence in and around the campus through the remainder of this school week. Our SRO is working closely with school administration to find the source of the rumors and to address any concerns parents and students may express.
We would like to remind our student community that creating and/or circulating a false rumor of school violence can have legal consequences. They also cause unnecessary disruption and worry to our ongoing efforts with the school district to provide safe learning environments at all campuses in Riverside. Thank you to all those students who followed the school’s See Something, Say Something protocols and making us aware of these rumors.
