Bike rides, activities and refreshments highlight morning event

RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Cyclists across Inland Southern California are invited to the Santa Ana River Trail Bike Ride and Festival from 9 a.m. to noon Sunday (6/11) at Ryan Bonaminio Park at the Tequesquite Arroyo, 5000 Tequesquite Avenue near downtown Riverside.

The event, which is co-sponsored by the City of Riverside, is open to all ages and includes organized bike rides, activities and refreshments. There also will be an opportunity drawing, bike safety demos and a BMX showcase. The first 500 people to register at www.SARTbikefestival.org will receive an event t-shirt.

“The Santa Ana River Trail is a major recreational resource for the City of Riverside,” Mayor Rusty Bailey said. “I encourage anyone who enjoys cycling and the outdoors to come out for this familyoriented event that helps Riversiders stay fit, fresh and fun.”

Organized bike rides will include:

* a 14.5-mile ride from the park to the Hidden Valley Nature Center.

* a 4.5-mile ride from the park to Martha McLean-Anza Narrows Park.

Attendees are encouraged to bring a helmet, a bike lock and a water bottle. Water refilling stations will be provided along the route of the rides. Water bottles will not.
