RIVERSIDE, Calif. – The City of Riverside is approaching its annual review of the Code of Ethics and Conduct and is seeking input from the public.
The City Council Governmental Affairs Committee will meet Sept. 6 to review the code and consider recommendations to the full City Council regarding possible changes. That committee meeting is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. in the Art Pick Council Chamber, 3900 Main Street.
The City adopted the Code of Ethics and Conduct as required by an amendment to the city Charter approved by voters in 2004. The Mayor, City Council, and members of city boards, commissions, and committees are subject to the code.
The Governmental Affairs Committee’s review is the first since an updated Code was adopted last year. The committee is seeking input from the public and the Board of Ethics.
The recommendations from the Governmental Affairs Committee will be forwarded to the City Council at a subsequent meeting. The public also is invited to attend that meeting, which will be publicized when a date is set, following the Governmental Affairs Committee review.
“This annual meeting is an important outreach of our local government,” City Clerk Colleen Nicol said. “Citizen engagement in this process improves decision-making.”
