City of Riverside Invites Public to Ethics and Conduct Meeting
RIVERSIDE, Calif. – The City of Riverside is encouraging residents to attend an upcoming meeting and recommend amendments to the City of Riverside’s Code of Ethics and Conduct.
The City Council’s Inclusiveness, Community Engagement, and Governmental Processes Committee will discuss possible recommendations in a virtual meeting at 3:30 p.m. Sept. 2. The committee will ask for contributions from the Board of Ethics as well as from the public.
As required by an amendment to the City Charter approved by voters in 2004, the city adopted a code of ethics and conduct. The Mayor, City Council, and members of city boards, commissions, and committees are subject to the code. This code is reviewed annually for its effectiveness.
The recommendations from the committee meeting will be heard by the City Council at a subsequent City Council meeting.
“This annual meeting is an important outreach of our local government,” said City Clerk Colleen Nicol. “Citizen engagement in this process improves decision-making.”
