The City of Riverside has implemented an Adopt-A-Drain program. Currently, there are approximately 4800 drains throughout the city. Though city staff cleans them, it can be difficult to get to all of them before a storm. By pledging to keep your drain free of leaves and debris, you are joining your neighbors in helping to protect the environment, manage storm water, and minimize flooding.

Why Should I Adopt a Drain?

Help prevent flooding in your neighborhood by keeping drains free of debris

Prevent pollutants from entering local waterways and the Santa Ana River

Help the city maintain our infrastructure, especially during the rainy season, when leaves and debris can increase the likelihood of flooding

What Happens After I Adopt a Drain?

You will be eligible to receive an Adopt-a-Drain toolkit from the City’s Corporation Yard located at 8095 Lincoln Avenue, Riverside, CA 92504. Please call ahead through 311 to schedule a time to pick up your toolkit.

Clean your drain once a month or as needed

Only clean the drain opening and the curb and gutter approximately 10 feet to either side of the opening

Download the 311 App here to send a photo of your drain and details of your efforts

Report any assistance needed or illegal dumping to the 311 call center or through the 311 Riverside Mobile Application

Be proud of your active role in helping keep Riverside clean and safe
