DEPUTY CITY MANAGER DEPARTING FOR CITY OF GLENDORA
RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Moises Lopez, Deputy City Manager for the City of Riverside, has announced that he has accepted a position with the City of Glendora, California, as Assistant City Manager. His last day of service in Riverside will be on June 22, 2021.
Moises has served the Riverside community for more than 15 years, beginning in 2005 as a Planning Intern in the Community Development Department. From there he transitioned to Assistant Planner from June 2006 to December 2007, Associate Planner from December 2007 to September 2013, and Senior Management Analyst from September 2013 to September 2015, then as Intergovernmental Relations Officer from September 2015 to June 2018 when he was appointed Deputy City Manager.
“Although I’m very excited to embark on this new chapter in my professional career, I will truly miss the Riverside community and City team I’ve grown to love,” said Deputy City Manager Lopez. “Riverside has a boundless list of accomplishments to be proud of, and I’m thankful I was able to be a part of them for so long.”
Over the past three years as Deputy City Manager, Moises has been instrumental in advancing the work of the Office of Homeless Solutions, facilitating “The Cheech,” coordinating efforts pertaining to the California Air Resources Board’s Southern California Headquarters, and establishing the City’s priority-based budgeting system. Most recently, Moises oversaw the Finance Department, Library, Museum, General Services Department, and the Office of Homeless Solutions, as well as coordinating Intergovernmental and Legislative Affairs.
“Moises has made a significant and lasting difference in the Riverside community, and without question, his presence will be missed by all,” stated City Manager Al Zelinka. “He is a trusted, ethical, and incredibly talented public servant. On behalf of Mayor Lock Dawson and the entire City Council, we appreciate the dedicated service he gave and wish Moises only the best in his future.”
Moises serves alongside City Manager Al Zelinka and Assistant City Managers Lea Deesing and Rafael Guzman to implement City Council policy direction and guide the City Team. An announcement will be made within the next two weeks about who will assume Moises’ responsibilities.
