Doors Open Event to Highlight Architecture Across the City
Add your architecturally-interesting building to the list for event on May 11
RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Doors Open, the program that gives you a chance to look inside historic and significant buildings in Riverside, is looking for additional buildings to add to this year’s tour.
The City of Riverside, in partnership with the Riverside Downtown Partnership, and the Mission Inn Museum and Foundation, is hosting the City’s fourth annual Doors Open on May 11.
Doors Open events began over 30 years ago in France and has since spread across Europe, North America, and Australia. These events provide free access to captivating historic sites that are usually closed to the public, increasing awareness of interesting architecture and the community’s collective heritage.
On Saturday, May 11 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., buildings across the City of Riverside will open their doors. Most tours begin at 10 a.m. and occur every twenty minutes. As the event nears, participating locations will be listed on the website with addresses and tour schedule -- DoorsOpenRiverside.com.
The Doors Open Event organizers are looking for new locations to participate in the 2019 event, including buildings and structures across the City that have architectural significance and would be willing to open their doors during the event timeline.
The Mission Inn Museum and Foundation will be training and providing docent tour guides for participating buildings or locations are welcome to provide their own tour guides for the event.
If you know of a building that has historic or architectural interest, email Janice Penner at [email protected] or register your location at DoorsOpenRiverside.com.
