“A Good Life” Featuring Arthur L. Littleworth Debuts Monday on Riverside TV
Third installment in film series to focus on community leader and his 70-year legal career
RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Riverside TV, the City of Riverside’s in-house production studio, will premiere the third installment in its documentary series “A Good Life” at 7 p.m. Monday (5/25), profiling local attorney and community leader Arthur L. Littleworth.
Each episode of “A Good Life” chronicles the life of an individual who has made a significant impact on the City of Riverside, its people, policies, or profile, through a lifetime of public service and community involvement. “It is the story of a wonderful man who has led a remarkable life and has made a profound difference in his community, an intimate and honest look at both the triumphs and challenges of life. A truly inspiring story during these difficult times.” said Tim Roche, Riverside TV producer, host, and narrator for the series.
This year Littleworth marks his 70th at Best Best & Krieger LLP in Riverside, where he is best known as a preeminent water law attorney and mentor. He was board president of the Riverside Unified School District (RUSD) from 1962-72, and in 1965 led the successful effort to integrate Riverside’s public school system, a story of state and national significance at the time.
As the first president of the Mission Inn Foundation in 1976, his efforts, along with a group of dedicated volunteers, were instrumental in saving the iconic, but then troubled, Mission Inn from demolition. At that time, some thought it should be turned into a parking lot.
As an attorney, Littleworth was named by the United States Supreme Court as a “special master” to help the high court adjudicate a water dispute between two states. He overcame the sudden death of his first wife, a bout with cancer, and a debilitating stroke in 2008 to remain a vital spirit in the community. In 2014, at age 91, he authored “No Easy Way,” his recollection of the school integration efforts. He and his wife Peggy reside in Riverside. On May 2nd he celebrated his 97th birthday.
“I want to thank the City of Riverside for the documentary about my life. It shows the joy of my family life, the opportunity of community service – like the integration of our schools and the restoration of the Mission Inn – and my legal career dedicated to the public good,” Littleworth said. “And, yes, it also contains tragic events and the disappointments. To all of you, I say there is faith, hope and the spirit of giving that yields the blessings of happiness in life even after some disappointments. That is the Good Life.”
According to Riverside Mayor Rusty Bailey, “Art Littleworth is a saint of Riverside. His servant leadership is a model for all who desire to make their communities better. He inspires me and my work, and I hope he does the same for you.”
The series “A Good Life” is a production of Riverside TV, which recently won eight awards for its programming, including five first-place finishes, from the California and Nevada chapter of the National Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors.
