Riverside Public Utilities Welcomes New Board Member, Chooses Leadership

Ana S. Miramontes is newest member of Board of Public Utilities; Jo Lynne Russo-Pereyra and Elizabeth Sanchez-Monville named Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson

RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Riverside Public Utilities recently welcomed a new member to the Board of Public Utilities, saw an existing board member re-appointed and selected a chairperson and a vice-chairperson for the coming year.

Ana S. Miramontes was selected by Mayor Rusty Bailey and the Riverside City Council to serve as the board member from Ward 2, which includes Canyon Crest, the Eastside and UC Riverside.

Miramontes, Vice President for Small Business Banking at Bank of America in Riverside, replaces Kevin Foust, who resigned. The appointment was effective March 19 and is in effect until March 1, 2020, at which time Miramontes can be re-appointed for a four-year term. Her first meeting was April 8.

“Serving others is very important to me, both as a financial services professional helping local entrepreneurs succeed, and through my volunteer work in the community,” Miramontes said. “I’m excited about the opportunity to bring my experience in the business world to the Board of Public Utilities.”

Board member Jennifer O’Farrell was re-appointed to another four-year term, through March 2023. The representative from Ward 1, which includes Downtown and the Wood Streets, she has been on the board for four years.

Members of the Board of Public Utilities voted to retain Jo Lynne Russo-Pereyra, one of the citywide members on the board, as Chairperson. Her current term as a Board member runs through March 1, 2021.

Board members also chose as Vice-Chairperson Elizabeth Sanchez-Monville from Ward 3, which includes Victoria, Magnolia Center and other neighborhoods in central Riverside. Her term is through March 1, 2022.

Vice-Chairperson Sanchez-Monville was appointed to the Board in 2016, and Board Member Jeanette Hernandez, who is the Ward 6 representative, was appointed in 2018. Ward 6 includes Arlanza and part of the La Sierra area in western Riverside.

“Riverside Public Utilities is very fortunate to have such an esteemed and diverse group of community members on the Board of Public Utilities,” General Manager Todd Corbin said. “Their insight into the community and their willingness to provide oversight of our operations will enable us to continue providing RPU’s customers with the highest levels of customer service.”

New Board Member Miramontes has been with Bank of America for 17 years, working with small and large businesses. She works closely with the Greater Riverside Chambers of Commerce, serving on the La Sierra Business Council as its immediate past Chamber President, on the Economic Development Council, Government Affairs Council, Military Affairs Council, and Executive Committee.

Miramontes is a 2017 graduate of Leadership Riverside and serves on the steering committee for the organization as vice-chair for Discovery Day. She also serves on the Bank of America, Inland Empire Grants Review and Community Volunteers committees, which contributed more than $850,000 in grants to local nonprofits and 18,000 employee volunteer hours last year alone; 211 Community Connect as a board member at large; and as a board member at large for the Fox Riverside Theater Foundation. She has previously volunteered on projects that benefit the City’s first responders, including the 9/11 Citywide Day of Service, Cops-4-Kids Fly-in, the RPD Trunk n Treat, and with the Raincross Boxing Academy as a speaker. She also is a co-creator and manager of the Facebook group “What Is Going On In Riverside County,” which has more than 146,000 members to date.
